Ana couldn't believe the mess she had gotten herself into. Ken looked so... defeated... when he left. She truly never meant to hurt him. And really she hurt herself in the process too, because she figured she had lost his friendship.
But how was she supposed to have known? She never realized it, but she hadn't known Ken's last name. How could she have guessed that 'Kenny' the son that Arthur had mentioned was the same person as Ken her closest friend, who had recently asked her out. Heck she didn't even realize that Arthur's son was a grown man. She pictured him more as a teenager whenever Arthur talked about him.
Though now that she did know, she can see the resemblance between father and son.
And what if I've damaged their relationship? Well.... there's no sense worrying myself to death about it. But I need to talk to Arthur as soon as possible.

So Ana invites Arthur over for dinner again. When he gets there, she can tell immediately that he hasn't spoken to Ken yet.
That's good I suppose. I'll have a chance to explain first. Thinks Ana.
And she tries to concentrate on her cooking, while Arthur makes small talk.
But every time Ana opens her mouth to try and contribute to the conversation, she feels the lump in her throat getting bigger. It's taking every bit of her self control to stop herself from bursting out in tears.
Arthur, of course, notices Ana battleing with emotions. "Ana, what's wrong? Is it something I did?"
Time to spill the beans. "No. You've been great. I don't know how to.... Here goes.... It turns out that I know your son."
"You do? Why didn't you mention it before?" wonders Arthur.
"Well, I didn't realize he was your son. I didn't know his last name, but we've become pretty good friends..."
"Well, that's not a bad thing is it?"
But one look at Ana's face tells Arthur it definitely isn't a good thing.
Ana tries to explain, while tears pool in her eyes. "I've made a complete mess of things, I'm afraid. You see, before we...you know... Ken asked me out. And I said yes."

"Please tell me you didn't sleep with him too!" Says Arthur jumping to conclusions.
"No! We never even kissed. It's just that I think he really cared about me, and I care about him a lot too. He's been a great friend to me. But now I've hurt him, and I'm worried about what... our relationship" she gestures to Arthur "will do to yours and his relationship."
But Arthur's reaction surprises Ana; he doesn't looks very concerned at all. He tries to reassure Ana. "Kenny, is a grown man. Of course, I don't want to hurt him, but he will be alright. You didn't do anything wrong, Ana."
"Do you really think so, Art? I mean, what if I'm already pregnant? This has all gotten more complicated than I wanted."
"Well, Ana, don't you still want more kids? Sure things might have taken a surprise turn, but when is life simple? And if you're not pregnant... I understand if you don't want to try again."
"Is it really that simple?" Ana asks.
Arthur chuckles, "That part is. Of course, part of me - the part that you brought out in me the other night - hopes that we weren't successful yet, and that you do want to try again."

"Really?" A little ray of hope starts to build within Ana again.
Arthur smiles. "Yes. Now you go on and take the test so we know one way or the other and can stop talking in what-ifs. I'll be waiting right here."
"Well... I took the test..."
"And what did it say?"
"It was positive!"
"Really!?!?"
"Yes! We put a baby in here."
