To end their first day in the forest, the Pringle clan is having a fish roast around the campfire.
"Okay kids it's time to gather around the fire. But first I need a couple of helpers to move the chairs back over to the fire circle." Osmond announces.
In no time they're gather around, and Osmond lights a match that he throws into the fire-pit.
"Where are Celia and Clara?" Ana asks.
"They went to the restroom," Emma tells her.
"Ugh. I thought they just went like an hour ago."
"I think Celia had to go then, this time it was Clara." Dani clarifies.
"Oh those girls..." Ana says.
"It's okay, the fire needs a bit of time to get hot enough to cook on." Osmond tells everyone. And soon the twins are back and the fire is ready.
Most everyone is roasting a fish that Brandon caught earlier that day, but a few family members are finicky eaters and prefer a hot dog instead. Still it was fun having the whole family gathered around the fire roasting their supper on a stick.

"Clara, you know you've eaten fish I've cooked at home before, right? Why are you so squeamish about fish now?" Ana asks the teenage girl.
"Yeah, but I'm not used to the fish staring back at me. Ew!" Clara explains.

The sun sank a little lower as their chosen meals continued roasting.
"I think it's getting close to done." Dani says.
"How can you tell?" Emma wonders.

"Let them cook just a little bit longer. I'll let you know when it's done." their mom tells them.
Brandon admires his meal, "I hope this fish tastes as good as it looks."
"Eewww!!" Clara says again.

After their meals are finished, the family decides not to waste the last of the fire. Marshmallows are passed all around. Dani is the only one to skip the marshmallow roast. Instead she plays a song (the one she'd been practicing all day) for the family.
"Aw man! I dropped my marshmallow in the fire." Clara says pouting. Celia chuckles at her sister's bad luck.
"Don't feel bad, Clara, I did too!" Osmond says. "Besides we have more."
"Oh! I ate mine too fast. That burned!" It's Clara's turn to have a little laugh at her sister's expense.
Emma, having finished her marshmallows already decides to keep using her stick to play with the fire while her parents are distracted.

Oops, she thinks, having left it in the fire for a moment too long. "Aaaahh!" She starts to panic."
"Emma!" Ana shouts. Osmond quickly grabs her stick and stomps out the flames.
"Alright, Emma Kate Pringle, you know better that to play with fire. So just march yourself over to your tent and get yourself ready for bed."
After Emma sulked off, Ana realizes it's getting pretty late and is nearly bedtime for everyone else as well.

"Actually it is time for the rest of you to start getting ready for bed too. The fire's almost out. Let's call it a night." She says.
Apparently the girls were all very tired after the long day, because the headed to their tent right away and were quickly asleep. Brandon headed to his tent shortly after, while Ana cleaned up the remains of their meal. They knew from Osmond's brochures not to leave food laying around the campsite. That could attract bears or other wild animals.
The last bit of campsite safety that needs to be taken care of is putting out the fire. Osmond tends to that. And then it was just Osmond and Ana alone under a beautiful star-filled sky.
"Honey, you know, the kids are all asleep. Do you want to...?" Ana let's the question trail off, but her meaning is clear.
And Osmond doesn't need to answer to make his feelings clear. The look on his face clearly says Do you even need to ask?

Just as the couple is about to crawl into the tent for one last camping activity for the day, they hear the door-flap to the girls' tent unzip. And out comes Emma.
It seems she's having a little bit of trouble sleeping with all the strange sounds of the forest surrounding them. Of course it might also have something to do with the fact that she never changed into her pajamas.

As Ana goes to help their daughter get back to sleep, Osmond can't help but laugh. What else can you expect with so many kids?
By the time Emma is sleeping soundly, Ana and Osmond are too tired themselves to even think of anything but sleeping themselves. Despite the late night interruption it was a pretty nice ending to a very nice day.
