And she was pleased one day to receive a phone call from Arthur, the nice man she had met at the Museum. It turns out that his father had had a heart attack, but he is back at home and recovering as well as can be expected.
"Enough about me," says Arthur, "How have you been?"
"Good. Finally past my morning sickness."
"I sure you're glad for that. Did you also get past that creative block you were having?"
"Yep. I'm loving my paint and brushes again now." Ana answers.
"I would love to see some of you paintings some time."
So before ending the call Ana promises to invite him over sometime to see some of her work.
She invites him inside, and realizes that she hasn't had anyone over since the day of her fight with Mitchell. That thought doesn't make her nearly as sad as it would have at one time.
"Oh, I'm okay. Just a little worried about my granddad. He's getting a little up there in years now." But he doesn't elaborate instead changes the subject her pregnancy.
Eventually they land on the topic of Mitchell. Turns out that Ken actually knows him. Ken is a mixologist at one of the local bars, the one that just happens to be on of Mitchell's favorite haunts. "That jerk is the dad?"
Ana doesn't even bother defending Mitchell she just nods in answer.
"I see him at the bar a couple of times a week, and he has never mentioned that he's gonna have a kid. In fact I usually see him with a different woman ev-" He caught off his sentence, thinking that might be more that Ana wants to know.
Ana isn't in the habit of sharing her personal business to just anyone, but with her pregnancy hormones are influencing her, she spills the whole story.
They both burst out in laughter.
He leaves not long after that, but despite some heavy conversation it had been a very enjoyable visit.
But as busy as Ana is with her paintings she also makes times to keep in touch with her new friends.
At last when she started feeling contractions, she tried one last time to call him, but again was greeted by his voicemail. Thinking he really should know when his child is being born she leaves a contrite message.
And then feeling a bit sad to being doing this alone, she walks out to the cab waiting to take her to the hospital.....
